Akleker vs. Van Staden Scrapped, Iakobidze To Face Kazadi
1 November 2012
Johannesburg (South Africa) - Due to injury, the lightweight bout between Khalil Akleker and Johan van Staden at EFC AFRICA 17 has been scrapped. Akleker tore his hip-flexor muscle and will not be able to compete, and a suitable replacement to face Van Staden was not found. The featherweight bout between Jean-Luc Kazadi (3-4) and Koba Iakobidze (1-3) has been added to the fight card on 23 November at Carnival City.
Both Kazadi and Iakobidze have strong backgrounds in boxing, and are looking forward to showcasing their striking at EFC AFRICA 17.
Kazadi says he is more than ready. “I feel confident and ready to step up my training, and will be working a lot on my sparring. I have no injuries and am ready, and hope to keep the fight standing.”
Iakobidze is ecstatic to be back in action. “I’m ready for the fight. I have been waiting for a long time to get back into the hexagon. From now on I will make sure that I make an impact in the featherweight division!”
