Heavyweights Collide At EFC AFRICA 16
Fight Night is only eight days away!
11 October 2012
Johannesburg (South Africa) - Excitement is building with only eight days to go before EFC AFRICA 16 hits Carnival City’s Big Top Arena. Another Heavyweight bout to look forward to is the battle between the man from East London, Brendon Groenewald and the Capetonian Sors Grobbelaar.
Sors will be making his debut in EFC AFRICA 16 after his love for MMA started evolving early in 2000. Coming from a Kickboxing background and sporting titles such as SA Kickboxing (R.C.F.A) Junior Heavyweight Champion 1999, SA Junior Millennium Title (R.C.F.A) 2000, he represented South Africa (National Presidents Colours) at the WAKO World Cup in Italy 2008 in Kickboxing, SA K-1 Heavyweight Champion (SAAKA/WAKO) 2011, he fought an Intercontinental K-1 Title fight against Chris Juhrs in Germany 2011, SA K-1 Heavyweight Champion (SAAKA/WAKO) 2012, represented South Africa (National Colours) at the WAKO African Kickboxing Championships in Madagascar, and he was the WAKO Heavyweight African Low Kick Champion in 2012. Where spinning back hands and knee strikes appear, you can be sure that Sors will be behind one of them.
Brendon Groenewald is rough and ready to bring is A-game to the hexagon. Brendon started training MMA back in 2001, and in 2010 he won a bronze medal in Jiu Jitsu at the African Cup. Brendon was also a double gold medallist in Jiu Jitsu in the Absolute division, over 92kg’s, at the Abu Dhabi African World Profiles competition, and qualified for the Abu Dhabi World Profiles Championship in 2012 where he won a silver medal.
Come 19 October will it be the 29-year old Kickboxer, or 34-year old Jiu Jitsu guru that will walk out victorious?
