"NICE RING, BUT ITS NOT GOING TO HELP YOU HOLD ONTO THE BELT IN DURBAN"
Martin van Staden comments on Buirski’s recent collection of his championship ring
02 June 2015
Johannesburg, South Africa - Recently crowned EFC welterweight champion David Buirski visited Orpheo Twins Jewellers to collect his championship ring over the weekend. Buirski won his title in February by defeating two time champion Adam Speechly with a spectacular first round knockout. Buirski was elated upon receiving his ring and stated on Instagram, “Boom, just picked up my EFC championship ring, thanks to Orpheo Twins. What a great prize to remember that day forever. Now it is time to put a diamond on this bad boy!” Set to defend his title for the first time against number one contender Martin ‘The Punisher’ van Staden in Durban in August, the challenger van Staden, is unimpressed with Buirski and stated, “Nice ring, but it is not going to help you hold onto the belt in Durban.” Van Staden added, “I’m glad that he has collected his ring because it is the only thing that he will have after the fight, he is not getting a diamond.” One question remains, is if the dreaded welterweight curse will continue in Durban, or will Buirski make history and be the first to break it. EFC 43: van Staden vs. Buirski, presented by BetXchange.com, and takes place at Durban ICC, Durban on Saturday 29 August 2015. Tickets on sale soon at www.computicket.com.
