Johannesburg, South Africa - A new women’s champion will be crowned. At EFC 67 taking place on Saturday 10 March, live from Carnival City in Johannesburg, South Africa’s Danella Eliasov takes-on Italy’s undefeated Chiara Penco for the EFC women’s strawweight championship.
Home-town heroine, Danella Eliasov is known for pioneering women’s MMA in South Africa, but now the experienced campaigner, has quite possibly, the biggest fight in her career on her hands.
“I have been training and waiting for this opportunity my whole life,” explained Penco in a recent interview. “It is the chance to show what I am worth, in one of the most important organisations in the world.”
A rising star in her home country, she holds a perfect undefeated record, with all her wins coming by way of a first-round submission. Penco elaborates, “MMA fans around the world can expect to see a transformation from a normal Italian girl, outside the hexagon, into a beast once I enter it.”
Hailing from the west coast city of Livorno, Italy, she trains and fights out of Rendoki Dojo. When not fighting, Penco spends her time modelling. A contrasting profession to the brutal sport of MMA.
“MMA is my life. I have been training for this opportunity my whole life and have a great team of professionals behind me. I'll win this fight because I have more heart and determination than anybody else.” Penco concluded her interview with, “and when I enter the cage I'll be walking in with a smile.”
The inaugural EFC women’s strawweight championship will be on the line when Elaisov and Penco clash on 10 March and the right to be named only the second ever women’s EFC champion (Joining flyweight champion Amanda Lino).
This fight takes place just ahead of the main event featherweight title fight between Igeu Kabesa and Boyd Allen.
